Lab 2 contains a major event dedicated to hip hop dance, called HIP HOP Fest.
The Hip Hop Fest includes a 5 day "Convention" from 13th to 17th July and a "Competition" for groups (Crew), called " The Best International Dance Crew", from which the best dancers will be selected to take part in a "Freestyle Contest" to choose "The Top hip hop dancer".
The Competition will be divided into 2 categories: Junior (age 9 - 16 years) and Senior (age 17+) divided into Small Crew (4 - 7 dancers) and Big Crew (more than 8 dancers). The teachers of the Convention and the judges of the Competition are: Karim Belharch - Brussels ( Sanremo – Ciao Darwin – Madonna – Paris Hilton), Bruce Blanchard - Brussels, international dancer and choreographer, artistic director of The B.O.S.S. Dance Complex, Megan Lawson from Los Angeles (Dancing with the Stars, Cirque Du Soleil, Missy Elliott, Toni Braxton, FANNY PAK CREW in America Best Dance Crew) and the Italian teachers and dancers Francesca Cecchini & Alice Cimoroni will hold a special class of hip hop for children age 9 to 14 years.
The Arrival day is scheduled for July 12th ( for the Convention ) and July 18th ( for the Competition ), the Marasusa Resort reception will be open from h. 8.00 am. to 10.00 pm., the accommodation will be available after 5.00 pm, MDF office will be open from h. 3.00 to 9.00 pm. for registration on july 12th and from 9.00 am. to 7.00 pm. on july 18th . The Departure day is scheduled for July 18th ( for only the participant of the Convention ) and for July 20th for the participant of the Competition. (please book the shuttle, at least 3 days before, for the transfer to the Tropea train station or Lamezia Terme airport).
Classes, workshops and performances at the Open Theater Studio, a structure with a stage of 18.30 x 12,30 meters, with resilient flooring and dance floor (Harlequin professional studio), located within Marasusa resort, in a special area on the green side, from which there is a landscape of outstanding beauty. Other study activities will take place in an indoor hall with air conditioning.
On July 15th after the study activities, in the evening, there will be an interesting Meeting with the teachers, an opportunity to get to know the teachers better. During the meeting we will show some interesting videos about the teachers.
Each participant at the hip hop convention and circus acrobatics workshops will receive a Certificate of Attendance which will be endorsed by their teachers. At the conclusion of the Final Show (Final Competition) the Award Ceremony will take place with prizes being awarded as well as scholarships for the Hip Hop Fest 2011 and International Centers of Dance.
In addition, collateral activities will be organized like : movies projections on the big screen, parties, live music, visits to the town of Tropea and boat trips to visit the beautiful Coast and admire the Aeolian Islands, in particular the nearby volcanic island "Stromboli".
