PATRIZIA MUZZUPAPPA
She studied ballet at the Cosi - Stefanescu School following courses by Gabriel Popescu and Loretta Alexandrescu. At the age of twenty she met the fathers of Jazz Dance Matt Mattox and Luigi in France, and from that moment in the eighties, she started a journey that would bring about the greatest exponents of jazz dance in France and Italy. Studying first the following techniques: contemporary, Graham, Limon, Cunningham, then, Horton, with teachers from Alvin Ailey.
She has founded a School of Dance in South Italy specializing in modern jazz with collaboration from some of the most prestigious names in this style. In the nineties she travelled in the USA to improve all the American styles: lyrical, theater dance, funky, street jazz and hip hop, and started to organize workshops in Italy with American teachers.
Over the past ten years, after having back surgery, she began to devote herself to important aspects of dancer’s health: posture and proper training to avoid injuries. After rehabilitation program she began to study Anatomy and Biomechanics, structural Stretching, functional exercises and Pilates which became her main every day training as technical support needed to maintain and improve power and flexibility and achieve a technical level more effectively.
She studied at the Polestar Pilates School of Italy receiving an internationally recognized certificate in teaching Pilates.
Currently teaches Pilates and functional gymnastics in a Center for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Reggio Calabria where she also directs a Dance School and experiments with a program of training and integrated warming up that leads to maximum results and permit to avoid mechanical joints and muscle injuries meeting the physical abilities of each student.
Her current goal is to give dancers a way to bridge gaps between the theoretical and practical science of movement.
